Resource search

Select Catalog > Resource Search

important  If a district has any Follett Destiny® Textbook Manager installations, all textbook-related features are hidden in Destiny Resource Manager.

note In Follett Destiny® Resource Manager, you can only access the resources you have permission to view. For details, see Resource Groups.

Resource item records identify your physical items and include information about a specific resource, such as serial number, barcode, and Brand.

When searching, you can use wildcards for the Contains and Search with search options. Wildcards must contain at least one character, then an asterisk (*). Also, you can use the Boolean operator AND, OR, and NOT. Boolean operators must be upper case.

Duplicate barcodes

If you search across the district and there are duplicate barcodes, they appear in the search results.

When searching by barcode, whether from the district or across the district from a site, it is possible that search results will contain duplicate barcodes. If so, be sure to select the resource you want.

If you search or scan for a resource by barcode, duplicate barcodes could be found at sites other than your own. You are given the option to either not transfer or choose the appropriate resource to transfer.

To search resources

note If you have one or more Textbook Manager installations in the district, the Textbooks template is not available.

The template you select determines your available search and Sort By options.

1. If you are not on the Resource Search page, then follow the steps in the blue title bar.
2. Browse or search for and select the resource you want to define the instructional classification for.
3. Use the Find all drop-down to select a resource template.

   NOTE

   • If you have Resource Manager – Asset Edition you will not see the Textbook template.
   • If your district has resource groups setup, you might not see the Textbook template.
   • The Textbook template offers additional fields and options. If you select Textbooks from the Find all drop-down, Follett recommends you select ISBN from the Where Resource drop-down.

4. Enter your search term.
   

   NOTE When you search for an Item, an exact value is required. When you search for a component, use a Keyword search.

5. Select where you want to search using the Look in drop-down.
6. Select any other limiters you want to use.
7. Click Search.
8. Find the resource you want, then click Details.

In-hand transfers

important You can perform in-hand transfers only if the district has selected the Allow sites to receive by barcode scan permission. By default, duplicate barcodes are not allowed across the district. To allow duplicate barcodes across the district, complete these steps. Duplicate barcodes are not allowed at the site. If you are unable to perform an in-hand transfer, contact your Destiny Administrator for access.

An in-hand transfer is when an item from another site in your district is scanned at your site, and then transferred to your site.

example An item in your district is scanned at your site, but it is currently assigned to another site in the district. If in-hand transfer rights, give you an option to immediately transfer the item to the site it is being scanned at.

If the item already has a status, such as checked out, selecting Yes to the in-hand transfer message resolves any previous statuses.
