Edit a patron

Select Back Office > Manage Patrons

Typically, you edit a patron when the patron:

• transfers to or from another location (school or public library)
• alerts you to incorrect information in his or her record

District-level users District-level users can add a patron to an additional site(s). This is needed when a patron(s) is taking a class at another site in the district. The patron can be transferred to the additional sites added. See step 4 below.

Important If you have an automated patron update process in place any manual edits made to a patron record are overwritten when the automated patron update runs.

Homerooms Patron records that are not associated with a homeroom cannot take advantage of all the features.

To edit a patron

In the User Name field, use special characters* to minimize the risk of patrons being considered duplicates or skipped during a patron import.

* periods, dashes, underscores, and apostrophes

examples   jsmith, j.smith, j-smith, j_smith, j'smith are each considered different patrons.

important If there is a resource site and you select Access Level, then the Resource Group list box appears to make selections.

1. If you are not on the Manage Patrons page, then follow the steps in the blue title bar.
2. Optional If you are the DestinyAdmin, you can search for patrons across the district. Select the Search across the district box to search for patrons across the district.
3. To complete the task for active patrons, select the Only Active Patrons checkbox.
4. In the Find box, type part of the patron's name or type in the first initial of their name with a wildcard (*), then click Search.
   
5. From the list of patrons, find the patron you want to edit, click Edit. The Edit Patron page opens.
   District User If you are logged in as a District User, you will see an +Add Additional Site button. When a site(s) is added to a patron, the Site Information section lists the additional site. From this section, you can execute the transfer. To do so, for the site you want to transfer the patron to, click Transfer.
6. Make the necessary edits.
