Manage kit components

A kit is a specialized type of item, in that it consists of multiple pieces that are meant to stay together.

example  A biology textbook might come with an anatomical skeleton and three posters, or a bundle of a study guide, workbook and marker. Catalogers can add components to any type of resource, including consumables. Then, whenever a kit is checked out, checked in, or inventoried, you can confirm every component is accounted for.

To add a component

important Define the components and their quantities before you add the item kits.

To add components to a resource item, you need to add the components to the resource description record before adding any resource item records. Components cannot be added to a resource item record that existed before the components were added.

1. To access the Components page, follow the steps in Resource Details (Resource Manager).
2. In the Component field, type a name for the component (max 30 characters).
3. In the Quantity field, type the number of that component.
4. In the Reference ID field, type an identifying number for the component.
5. In the Price field, type a component price.
6. For each component, click Save.

note The components appear in the Components section of the Resource Details page.

6. To return to the Resource Details page, click Cancel. The component appears at the bottom of the list.
