Patron Status
(Follett Destiny® Resource Manager)
Select Circulation > Patron Status
The Patron Status page lets you view information about a particular patron, such as checkouts, fines, a current transaction summary, and more. You can also print a replacement barcode label for a patron.
To check in unbarcoded and consumable items
You do not have to check in checked-out consumables at the end of the loan period. A nightly job deletes them automatically. You can check consumables in early; they are added back to the inventory in Available status.
- If you are not on the Patron Status page, then follow the steps in the blue title bar.
- Find the patron.
- In the Items Out section, find the item you want to check in.
- Click Check In.
The Available copy count for each resource increases by 1.
To renew checked-out resources
important Checked-out resources can only be renewed if they have a loan policy interval that includes an associated calendar date or number of days. The Renew button only appears when the loan period changes the due date or has been updated. If the loan policy is Unlimited, the Renew button does not appear. To get it to appear, you must check the item in and out again.
Retrieve a patron record
To open the patron record, scan the patron's barcode in the Find Patron box, or type it and then click Go! or press Enter.
If you do not have the patron's barcode at hand, do one or more of the following:
- Search the database by entering the patron's first, middle, or last name, nickname, grade level, homeroom, user name, a value in one of the User Defined fields, or a District ID.
If you do not have the whole name or word, enter part of it, followed by *.
- To search other schools in your district, deselect the Only my patrons checkbox.
- To speed the search, select the Only search checkbox, and then select the field from the list.
Next, click Go!.
If a list appears, select the correct name.
At the top of the page, an alert message or important note might show basic information about the patron.
Manage a patron's transactions
The Items Out section lists all the patron's current checkouts. Overdue items have the due date in red.
Items borrowed from other sites in your district have the lending site's name before the barcode number.
Mark a patron's checkout lost or stolen
To mark any checkout lost, click Lost next to the item. If you charge fines for lost items, use the next page to do so. If you opted to have fines automatically assessed, an alert message lets you accept the fine, edit the amount, or waive an amount.
Note that you cannot mark copies or items from other schools or libraries lost.
To mark any checkout stolen, click Stolen next to the item.
Note that you cannot mark items from other sites lost or stolen.
Access a patron's statistics
The Current Transactions section list the transaction summary information for the patron.
Access a patron's checkout history
To view the patron's checkout history, next to Items Out, click View History .
To view the patron's fine history, next to Fines, click View History.
Manage a patron's notes
In the Notes section, you can view any notes that have been added to the patron record.
Important notes are preceded by a flag icon. These notes appear whenever you first retrieve the patron's record.
A regular note only appears in Patron Status.
You can add a new note, and edit or delete any of the previous notes.
You can also delete patron notes globally, by barcode, or based on a list you create, on the Delete tab of Update Patrons in the Back Office.
If your Destiny® Administrator selected the Clear patron notes when transferring patrons checkbox on the Edit <district> page, patron notes are automatically deleted when patrons are transferred.
Contact a patron or the parents
If you need to contact a patron or the parents, you can find the patron's street address, phone number, and email address under Contact Information.
If the email address is hyperlinked, click it to send the patron an email.
Print a patron's information
You can print the following information about a patron: current checkouts, circulation statistics, and contact information.
Select or deselect the checkboxes, including the patron's phone number and the resource names on the list. Click Printable at the bottom of the page, and then use your browser's Print button or menu command.
Print a replacement barcode label
To print a barcode label for this patron, click Print Label near the top of the page.
Select the label stock and starting label, and adjust your offsets, if necessary.
Then, click Run Report.
